On Monday I begain my sculpture elective, I was given an information sheet in reference to the human figure. We were given the option to study the processes within the body, its abilities and restrictions, its physical properties, its material facts. we were given the option to employ a range of sculptural activities, processes and forms improve and/or re-define and/or re-construct and/or re-design one or more aspects of the human body.
I have decided to explore the hollow human figure, the form as a representation. I want to see how exploring the hollow form with different mediums can affect the audiences reading of the form.
Tuesday I begain dipping muslin in wax on a mannequin to create the form, I started at the front and continued to the back and when dry I sealed both sides together. I pierced the eyes to keep it hollow as well as the arm sockets.
