Sculpture April 26th

So I decided to create these sculptural pieces by stuffing with mattress wadding and wrapping with clothes. The weight of the piece helped balance it. I'm continuing making these pieces, following the guidelines of the information sheet. Having made these pieces I have to keep in mind the  height allowance when looking for the clothes.

I placed the stuffed tights inside the jeans to create the form.

Sculpture - Two day project - 25/04/2013

Today I received an information for a two day project with the title - Doll Self.  My doll-self must be exactly half of my own height which articulates, in a non-illustrative manner, one or more aspects of myself. Following on from my previous project within the last few weeks I will continue to work using similar materials. I've also started to investigate other artists such as Rodney Graham, Nathalie Djurberg and Tony Oursler.

Sculpture

On Monday I visited the Hunt Museum in Limerick in relation to my Sculpture and combined media project. I was given an information sheet in which I had to visit the museum and select an object/item to use as a starting point for my project. I have chosen an evening gown called Blue Hyacinth Maquette designed by Sybil Connolly. Throughout the last few days I have researched and recorded the piece through drawings and sketches.

Sculpture April 17th

Today I  placed my piece into the environment, I dressed the piece in a child's school uniform and put white stocks and patent navy court shoes. I wanted to use the child's playground (park) to place my piece for photos. I believe it brings out the child's innocence and makes me think about the child obesity problem and how there childhood is altered because of this issue.

Sculpture April 16th

After sourcing more mattress wadding I am continuing on making these pieces. I want to make as many of theses pieces so to have more to work with when I go to expertiment and photograph and within the next few days. Within one pair of tights it holds  well over the amount of wadding in a duvet.

Sculpture April 15th

I have continued to draw exploring the form of the (legs) and by drawing it informs me of how I can create my pieces using the best materials. I am still continuing to make a series of simular pieces using the nude tights and stuffing them with  mattress wadding.

Sculpture April 9th

Over the last two day's I have worked on drawings (ideas) to move forward with my project. I am exploring human figures that have been altered, assembling human body part and constructing and positioning the body in a bizarre way. I  am also looking at the human flesh and how the body fat layers fall upon each other as excess skin rolls. I have been sourcing materials to create my work as well as researching artists such as Sarah lucas, Hans Bellmer, Asger Carlson, Jenny saville, Jack and Dino Chapman and Louise Bougeois .

I have began to stuff nude coloured tights with mattress wadding. It gave the effect of bulkiness while still relating to the body. I am continuing to fill the other stocking and will photograph whilst in different environments.
