3D work
Over the last two days I've been making another clay piece. I've been making them larger and more voluminous. I've also have placing shallow depts within the pieces just as the bark has. I would like to make one more of these pieces so I can display these pieces together.

So today my clay pieces came out of the glaze firing. I had put a transparent white glaze on my pieces which gives them a clean line and I believe it adds to the piece giving it a purity of growth effect. I'm continuing to create the my next piece with red clay and make them av bit larger as they do shrink a small bit after the kiln.

3D work - December 6th
Over the last few days I've been making my bark using clay. I want to make a series of these pieces and possible display them grouped together. I have fired and glazed pieces I made from college buff last week with a white glaze and I am using red clay which automatically looks organic. I am making small tester pieces of each type of clay to see what glaze I will use on the finish pieces of bark.

3D Work
Over the last few weeks I have explored different materials to create my tree bark. I was looking for something that holds natural organic flow so I decided to use expandable foam. I started by shaping chikenwire in to a bark form and lying it flat as i sprayed the foam. this took a couple of days as i had to wait for the foam to dry to stand it up to complete the bottom roots of the bark.

I have started to experiment with hessian material to create the bark. I believe it holds alot of organic qualities. So i decided to cut the material up into sections and then put it in a hot wash with Cd's trapped within to give shape to the material. I found the hessian to wear, tear and crease in the wash and this is the result I wanted. I stitched the individual pieces of hessian together and continued to stitch the back of the material throughout to create a sense of dept where the CD's had been placed.
